Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Role overview

Project delivery and coordination

• Manage and supervise electrical works from mobilization through testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Review IFC drawings, specifications, BOQ, approved shop drawings, and project requirements before execution.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor electrical installation activities in accordance with project schedules.
• Supervise LV distribution, panels, lighting, small power, cable containment, earthing, lightning protection, ELV, fire alarm, structured cabling, communications, and associated MEP systems.
• Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, plumbing, firefighting, architectural, structural, and civil disciplines.
• Review and coordinate electrical shop, coordination, builders' work, and as-built drawings; identify conflicts and raise RFIs where needed.
• Prepare and review technical submittals, material submittals, method statements, ITPs, and related documentation.
• Coordinate inspections, approvals, technical clarifications, and work acceptance with consultants and clients.
• Check that site materials comply with approved submittals and project specifications.
• Monitor subcontractors, supervisors, technicians, and site teams; inspect workmanship, progress, quality, and drawing compliance.

Planning, quality, and handover

• Coordinate procurement for timely material delivery; prepare material requirements and assist with quantity take-offs and technical evaluations.
• Monitor progress, delays, technical risks, and resource requirements; align activities with the approved programme.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and attend project coordination, technical, and site-progress meetings.
• Follow QA/QC procedures and resolve NCRs, inspection comments, and outstanding technical issues.
• Ensure electrical work complies with applicable HSE requirements.
• Coordinate electrical testing and commissioning; close inspection requests, testing records, and snag lists.
• Support as-built drawings, O&M manuals, authority documentation, and final handover records.
• Provide technical guidance to electrical and site engineers, supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors.
• Deliver electrical works within approved budgets, quality requirements, and project deadlines.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 8–10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in construction or MEP projects.
• Minimum five years of UAE/GCC experience is highly preferred.
• Strong experience with MEP contracting or general contracting companies.
• Experience managing electrical works on large-scale commercial, industrial, infrastructure, warehouse, residential, or similar projects.
• Strong knowledge of UAE electrical installation practices and authority requirements.
• Experience dealing with consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and authority representatives.
• Candidates currently in the UAE and able to join immediately are preferred.

Technical knowledge

• Practical knowledge includes LV electrical distribution; MDB, SMDB, DB, MCC, and electrical panels; cable sizing and voltage-drop calculations; load schedules and single-line diagrams.
