Electrical Site Engineer

Role details

Responsibilities

• Supervise electrical installations and review IFC drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and BOQs before execution.
• Coordinate daily work with site teams, subcontractors, and other MEP disciplines.
• Oversee LV distribution, panels, lighting, small power, cable containment and cabling, earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm, and ELV installations.
• Identify discrepancies, clashes, and technical issues; assist with RFIs and technical clarifications.
• Prepare inspection requests and coordinate approvals with QA/QC engineers and consultants.
• Verify approved materials and installation quantities, dimensions, levels, routes, and locations; coordinate material availability.
• Monitor workforce productivity, subcontractors, progress, and daily records; assist with daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
• Implement method statements and ITP requirements and address site observations, punch points, consultant comments, and NCR issues.
• Coordinate electrical testing and commissioning, including insulation resistance, continuity, and functional tests.
• Ensure system labeling and documentation and support as-built drawings and final handover.
• Ensure HSE and site safety compliance and promptly report technical, quality, safety, or schedule concerns.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 4–6 years of relevant electrical site experience in construction or MEP projects.
• At least 2–3 years of UAE/GCC experience is preferred.
• MEP or general contractor experience is highly preferred.
• Hands-on electrical installation, inspection, coordination, and testing experience.

Technical knowledge and software

• Practical knowledge of LV systems, power distribution, MDB/SMDB/DB and panel installation, lighting, small power, cable containment, cable pulling and termination.
• Knowledge of earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm, ELV, shop and coordination drawings, load schedules, and single-line diagrams.
• Knowledge of inspection procedures, testing and commissioning, as-built drawings, and UAE electrical installation practices.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Familiarity with Revit MEP/BIM is an advantage; familiarity with project documentation and inspection systems is preferred.
• Strong site supervision and coordination, electrical technical understanding, drawing interpretation, and attention to quality and installation details.

Work setting

• The work involves supervising and executing electrical installations at construction project sites in Abu Dhabi.
