Lead completion, commissioning, closeout, and handover of electrical engineering scope across major water assets.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead completion, testing, commissioning, closeout, and handover of electrical systems across water transmission infrastructure, pumping stations, treatment facilities, substations, and related assets.
  • Identify outstanding electrical work, completion gaps, and risks; coordinate recovery actions for closeout milestones.
  • Verify installations against approved designs, specifications, applicable codes and standards, quality requirements, and electrical safety procedures.
  • Resolve technical queries, punch-list items, non-conformances, design changes, concessions, and contractor action items.
  • Coordinate acceptance testing, energization, functional and integrated systems testing, reliability testing, and performance demonstrations.
  • Review commissioning records, test results, safety documents, energization procedures, protection settings, inspection reports, and acceptance evidence.
  • Coordinate interfaces with mechanical, process, civil, structural, instrumentation, control, SCADA, telecommunications, and operations teams.
  • Verify as-built drawings, O&M manuals, asset registers, spare-parts records, warranties, training records, and equipment certificates.
  • Support inspections, asset acceptance, contractor demobilization, operational readiness, and transfer to the client and operations teams.
  • Provide technical leadership, resolve complex issues, mentor junior engineers, and communicate with project stakeholders.

Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, including completion, testing, commissioning, closeout, and handover of major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with water infrastructure, pumping stations, treatment facilities, utilities, or industrial assets.
  • Strong knowledge of HV, MV, and LV systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, drives, generators, motors, protection systems, cabling, earthing, and electrical distribution.
  • Demonstrated experience with punch lists, non-conformances, technical queries, testing, energization, commissioning records, closeout documentation, operational readiness, and handover.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, ISO, local authority, and electrical safety requirements.
  • Experience with ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or equivalent, and platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Professional engineering registration, chartership, or membership of a recognized engineering institution is advantageous.
  • Strong technical leadership and communication skills.
