Senior Electrical Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering and design activities for industrial projects.
• Prepare and review power generation and distribution designs, load schedules, power balance studies, and single-line diagrams.
• Develop cable sizing and routing layouts; specify transformers, switchgear, and MCCs; design earthing, lightning protection, and lighting systems.
• Conduct short-circuit, load flow, protection coordination, and arc flash studies.
• Manage electrical engineering databases and documentation using SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL).
• Ensure compliance with codes, project specifications, and industry standards; coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Review contractor and vendor documents and support technical discussions with clients, consultants, licensors, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in design, HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, and value-engineering reviews.
• Support procurement evaluations and provide support through installation, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers; help deliver schedules, quality requirements, and engineering deliverables within agreed budgets.

Key qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent; a master's degree is an advantage.
• 10–15 years of electrical engineering experience in industrial or oil and gas projects, including at least 5 years in a senior or equivalent role.
• Strong FEED and detailed-design experience.
• Knowledge of industrial power generation, transmission, and distribution systems and IEC, IEEE, NEC, and project standards.
• Experience with electrical system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis.
• Knowledge of transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, generators, HV/LV distribution, grounding, earthing, lightning protection, hazardous areas, and electrical safety.
• Proficiency with SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, SKM PowerTools, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or other electrical design software.
• Experience in brownfield/greenfield projects, EPC or consultant environments, construction support, commissioning, and site troubleshooting is preferred.
