Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise for digital drilling and well engineering solutions.
• Support implementation, enhancement, and adoption of drilling and well-planning technologies.
• Improve planning, execution, and post-well analysis workflows with drilling teams.
• Support management, integration, and governance of drilling and well data.
• Analyze operational performance and identify optimization and efficiency opportunities.
• Collaborate with drilling, geology, subsurface, completions, IT, and software development teams.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications and technical solutions.
• Support application configuration, deployments, testing, and user acceptance activities.
• Facilitate workshops, training, and stakeholder engagement.
• Contribute to digital transformation and operational excellence initiatives.
• Develop reports, dashboards, workflows, and recommendations for data-driven decisions.
• Support integration across drilling applications, databases, reporting platforms, and real-time data systems.

Required experience

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Strong understanding of drilling engineering and well construction workflows.
• Experience supporting drilling software platforms, digital drilling technologies, or well-planning solutions.
• Knowledge of drilling operational data, engineering calculations, and performance monitoring.
• Experience with ROP, WOB, torque, hookload, SPP, vibration, and drilling dysfunction indicators.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to work across technical, operational, and business teams.

Preferred experience

• Experience with drilling engineering and well-planning applications, data management platforms, or data governance processes.
• Familiarity with digital well-planning workflows and engineering databases; drilling data integration and interoperability experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of WITSML and real-time drilling data systems is preferred.
• Drilling performance analysis, optimization, agile delivery, or requirements and technical-deliverable work with software teams is preferred.
• Previous field, rig-site, real-time operations centre, or drilling engineering experience is preferred.
• Exposure to cloud, analytics, AI, or digital oilfield technologies is advantageous.
