About the Company
We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to lead and manage the design development process across complex construction projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing multidiscipline design coordination, ensuring technical excellence, design quality, constructability, and alignment with project objectives, programme, budget, and client expectations.
About The Role
This role requires strong pre-contract and post-contract design management experience, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams, coordinate consultants and stakeholders, identify design risks, and deliver high-quality design solutions from concept through to project completion.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall design management process across projects from concept, tender, design development, and construction stages.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless design delivery.
- Manage and oversee multidiscipline design coordination across architectural, structural, MEP, ELV, and specialist disciplines.
- Review and challenge design proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements, technical standards, and construction objectives.
- Lead design coordination meetings, technical workshops, and design review sessions.
- Manage design submissions, approvals, deliverables, and programme milestones.
- Identify design risks, technical issues, and opportunities for value engineering.
- Ensure effective communication between design consultants and project delivery teams.
- Support pre-contract activities including tender documentation, design reviews, scope development, and technical evaluations.
- Drive design coordination throughout construction stages to support successful project execution.
- Support BIM coordination and digital design processes where applicable.
- Provide leadership, technical direction, and guidance to design teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in design management within construction, consultancy, contractor, or PMC environments.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in design management software and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
