Design Manager

Overview

The Role

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the design process across multiple data centre projects from concept through to completion
• Coordinate architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and specialist design disciplines
• Review and manage design deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards
• Lead design coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, and client representatives
• Identify and mitigate design risks throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure designs meet operational, technical, sustainability, and constructability requirements
• Support value engineering exercises and design optimisation initiatives
• Review technical submissions, drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
• Work closely with project delivery teams to ensure seamless design integration during construction
• Monitor design programmes and ensure deliverables are issued in line with project milestones
• Assist with client presentations, design reviews, and technical workshops

• Hyperscale data centres
• Colocation facilities
• Mission-critical infrastructure
• High-value design and build projects

Experience

Candidate Requirements

• To be considered for this role, candidates should have:
• Proven experience in a Design Manager, Senior Design Coordinator, or similar design leadership role
• Experience delivering data centre projects, mission-critical facilities, or highly technical building projects
• Strong understanding of architectural, structural, and MEP design coordination
• Experience managing multidisciplinary consultant teams
• Ability to review technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
• Knowledge of relevant international design standards and construction practices
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects within a fast-paced environment
• Degree qualified in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
