Senior Azure Data Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, architects, and engineers to deliver scalable data solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain data engineering solutions using Databricks, Spark, Kafka, and cloud technologies; build batch and real-time pipelines.
• Develop ingestion, transformation, and integration frameworks; manage workflows with Apache Airflow and other orchestration tools.
• Develop APIs and data services; maintain Azure- or AWS-based cloud-native data platforms.
• Support CI/CD and DevOps automation; implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational excellence practices.
• Contribute to architecture decisions for scalability, resilience, performance, and security; resolve incidents and production issues.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and delivery activities; ensure data quality, reliability, security, governance, and compliance.

Qualifications and expertise

• 6–10 years in data engineering and cloud data platform development; hands-on Azure or AWS experience.
• Extensive Azure Databricks experience; strong Kafka expertise for real-time streaming and event-driven architectures; hands-on Spark and distributed processing.
• Experience designing and supporting large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines; knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and modern storage platforms.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering and fault-tolerant architecture; experience with DevOps, CI/CD, configuration management, and deployment automation.
• Knowledge of Data-as-a-Service and Container-as-a-Service models; hands-on Apache Airflow and workflow orchestration experience.
• Working knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration patterns; experience supporting Snowflake analytical platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, tuning, root cause analysis, Agile collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
