About This Role

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our market leading MEA Projects & Construction team to work on a range of high value and complex construction projects and contractual issues for clients across diverse sectors, predominantly located within the UAE.

Your practice will focus on complex international construction negotiation support and advising as "Project Counsel" on commercial, legal and contractual issues that arise during the lifecycle of a construction project.

Transactional / non-contentious experience (including drafting and negotiating international construction contracts) would also be welcomed but is not essential.

The nature and size of the team will mean that you will lead, manage and be heavily involved in all aspects of matters allowing you to make a significant contribution to their outcome.

This role will allow you to continue to develop your professional and personal brand.

With 8 specialist partners and a total of 22 legal professionals based across our 6 offices in the Middle East, clients come to our team for their most significant, complex and high value projects.

About You

  • You will have an excellent construction contract management / negotiation support background gained from another highly respected private practice or a mixture of private practice and in-house from within the GCC region, or from overseas, with the following core competencies:
  • an excellent background in high value, complex construction contract management and negotiation support
  • advanced knowledge and experience of the laws of the UAE and the DIFC
  • superb drafting skills (including the drafting of pleadings, witness statements and legal opinions)
  • strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently
  • commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs and with the assistance of the partners, actively developing these client relationships
  • the ability to lead, delegate and foster a positive team atmosphere
