Role overview

Key accountabilities

• Develop and implement the project HSSE training management plan, training matrix, and monthly rolling training plan with the HSSE Manager.
• Establish and maintain the HSSE training database; prepare weekly and monthly training statistics and reports.
• Develop and issue safety flashes, alerts, bulletins, handouts, awareness materials, and training modules based on corporate materials and project procedures.
• Review HSSE courses and programs for relevance and effectiveness, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Conduct inductions for employees, contractors, and visitors, and deliver theoretical and practical training as needed.
• Train workers and supervisors on safe systems of work, including permit to work and risk assessments, and on H2S, confined spaces, working at height, and fire safety.
• Support safe-driving and heat-stress campaigns; conduct periodic HSSE training audits of subcontractors.
• Support subcontractor trainers, assess workforce capabilities, and adapt training programs and presentations as needed.
• Implement competency assessments for HSSE and non-HSSE roles; assess feedback and follow up on recommendations.
• Visit project sites to support HSSE training teams when required; translate materials into local languages where required.
• Carry out other HSSE-related tasks as advised by the supervisor.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree (4 years) or diploma (3 years).
• NEBOSH certification or equivalent, and a third-party train-the-trainer certificate.
• Eight years of diversified HSSE experience in the oil and gas industry, including HSSE training delivery.
• Lead or internal auditor qualification for ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 is preferable.
• Fluent spoken and written English, with strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
• Previous client approval is an advantage.

Skills and competencies

• Develop and deliver orientation, induction, awareness, and refresher training programs.
• Knowledge of training needs analysis, training material preparation, and assessment tools.
• Communicate HSSE policies, procedures, legal and emergency-response requirements, welfare requirements, and site-specific protocols to a diverse workforce.
• Deliver training on safe systems of work, hazard-specific topics, and major accidental hazards.
• Strong training, coordination, evaluation, and planning skills; use visual aids, presentations, and practical demonstrations.
• Knowledge of client procedures, manuals, guidelines, contractor onboarding HSE requirements, and local regulations.
