Security Officer

Position summary

Security and loss prevention duties

• Patrol all areas of the property and assist guests with room access.
• Monitor CCTV, perimeter alarms, duress alarms, and fire life-safety systems; lock property entrances when required.
• Conduct daily physical hazard inspections and resolve safety hazards.
• Respond to accidents, emergencies, disturbances, and other incidents; contact emergency services or administer first aid/CPR as required.
• Notify appropriate individuals of accidents, attacks, and other incidents, and call for assistance using proper code responses.
• Complete incident reports and loss-prevention shift summaries or daily activity reports.
• Escort unwelcome persons from the property without disrupting operations and report vehicle accidents or thefts.
• Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and interview relevant parties.
• Maintain confidentiality of security and property documents, releasing information only to authorized individuals.

Guest service and workplace conduct

• Welcome guests, address service needs and complaints, and support colleagues in meeting team goals.
• Follow company policies and safety standards, report unsafe conditions, complete training, maintain a professional appearance, and protect company assets.
• Communicate clearly and professionally; prepare and review written documents accurately.
• Perform other reasonable duties requested by supervisors.

Experience and education

• Related work experience is not required.
• Supervisory experience is not required.
• A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred.
• No specific license or certification is listed; some jurisdictions may have additional licensing or registration requirements.

Physical and operational capabilities

• The role requires extended periods standing, sitting, or walking and the ability to move quickly in response to work situations.
• Duties may involve lifting or carrying objects, manipulating equipment, moving through confined or elevated spaces, and traversing uneven or slippery surfaces and stairs.
• The role may require reading small print, visually inspecting equipment, and entering or locating information using computers or point-of-sale systems.
