Overview
The International Cricket Council (‘ICC’) is the global governing body for the sport, which administers all aspects of international cricket.
We are recruiting a Security Manager to join the ICC Integrity Unit.
The Security Manager serves as ICC’s centre of excellence for international cricket event security, providing strategic leadership, expert guidance and operational oversight across all aspects of security for the sport globally.
The role is responsible for building security capability with ICC Members, applying intelligence and analysis to identify and assess risk, and supporting the secure delivery of ICC events.
The Security Manager builds and sustains strong relationships with ICC Member boards, host countries, law enforcement agencies and security partners to share knowledge, develop capability and promote best practice in event security.
The role provides the ICC with a current and authoritative understanding of the changing global security landscape, identifying threats and risks to the organisation, its people, business interests and property, and ensuring proportionate measures are in place to protect them.
Through collaboration, intelligence-led analysis and proactive engagement, the role ensures the ICC maintains the highest standards of security across all international cricket events and activities.
Responsibilities

- Centre of Excellence for Event Security
- Establish and lead the ICC’s centre of excellence for international cricket event security, setting the benchmark for standards, processes and innovation across the global game;
- Develop and maintain comprehensive security frameworks, policies, protocols and procedures for all ICC events, ensuring they reflect current best practice and emerging risks;
- Provide expert security advice and operational planning for ICC tournaments, qualifiers and standalone events from inception through to delivery and post-event review;
- Drive continuous improvement through post-event debriefs, lessons learned and benchmarking against other major international sporting events.
Member Relationships, Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building
- Build and sustain strong, collaborative relationships with ICC Member boards and their security teams, acting as a trusted advisor and point of contact on event security matters;
- Develop and deliver knowledge-sharing programmes, workshops and training initiatives to raise security capability and awareness across the ICC membership;
- Create a network of security practitioners across Members to facilitate the exchange of intelligence, expertise and good practice;
- Support Members in developing their own domestic event security plans and frameworks, tailored to local contexts and risk profiles.
Global Security Landscape and Threat Assessment
- Monitor and analyse the evolving global security landscape, providing regular and timely assessments of threats, risks and trends relevant to international cricket;
- Produce threat and risk assessments for ICC events, venues and personnel, ensuring decision-makers have the information they need to make proportionate security decisions;
- Identify and assess risks to the ICC’s people, business interests, property and reputation, recommending appropriate mitigation strategies;
- Maintain and develop relationships with government agencies, law enforcement bodies, intelligence services and private security providers to ensure access to current threat information.
Operational Security Management
- Plan, coordinate and assist security operations for all ICC events, ensuring resources are appropriate and effectively deployed;
- Review reports on security incidents and breaches, investigate and resolve issues, and ensure appropriate remedial action is taken;
- Create and present security status reports and briefings for ICC senior management and stakeholders;
- Foster a strong security culture across the ICC, ensuring security considerations are embedded in all organisational undertakings.
Knowledge, Skills, Attitude and Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience at senior level in security, public safety or a related field;
- Background in security management, military, law enforcement or intelligence services is highly desirable;
- Proven track record of managing security for large-scale international events in complex, multi-stakeholder environments;
- Strong knowledge of threat and risk assessment methodologies and their application to event and organisational security;
- Demonstrated experience of building relationships, influencing stakeholders and developing capability across diverse cultural and national contexts;
- Experience of working with private security companies, government agencies and law enforcement bodies;
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training, workshops and knowledge-sharing programmes;
- Strategic Security Leadership – Ability to set the strategic direction for event security across international cricket, aligning security priorities with the ICC’s broader organisational objectives.
- Sound understanding of the global security landscape, including terrorism, geopolitical instability, cyber threats and their implications for major sporting events;
- Personal Responsibility – Takes ownership of security outcomes, actively responds to emerging issues and takes on additional responsibilities to enhance the effectiveness of the Integrity Unit.
- Written and spoken fluency in English is required; a second language is an advantage;
- Willingness to travel internationally, including to high-risk environments as required.
