The employer is seeking an experienced Scaffolding Designer for construction projects.
Design and engineering responsibilities
- Prepare scaffolding design drawings, layouts, and 3D models using AutoCAD or equivalent software.
- Design suspended, cantilever, birdcage, heavy-duty, and other scaffolding systems and prepare structural calculations.
- Ensure designs meet project requirements, UAE regulations, international standards, and safety requirements.
- Review construction drawings, identify scaffolding requirements, and propose practical solutions.
- Optimize designs for safety, stability, access, and efficient material use.
- Review and validate designs and drawings submitted by subcontractors or third parties.
Coordination and site support
- Coordinate with project, engineering, construction, and HSE teams to resolve technical issues and support execution.
- Provide technical guidance during scaffold erection, modification, and dismantling.
- Prepare method statements, risk assessments, calculations, and design-approval documentation.
- Liaise with consultants, clients, and authorities regarding approvals and technical queries.
- Conduct periodic site visits to verify erection follows approved designs.
- Maintain design drawings, calculations, approvals, revisions, and related records.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of scaffolding design experience; UAE construction project experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of scaffolding systems, structural calculations, and load assessments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with 3D modelling/design software.
- Knowledge of relevant scaffolding standards, including BS, EN, OSHA, and UAE safety regulations.
