Provide expert sanctions advice to business units, management, and stakeholders.
Support compliance with applicable sanctions regulations while enabling commercial activity and risk management.
Key responsibilities
- Advise business teams on sanctions risks, regulations, and controls, and interpret OFAC, UN, EU, UK, and relevant local sanctions requirements.
- Review high-risk customers, transactions, products, and business relationships; advise on new products, markets, and strategic initiatives.
- Conduct sanctions risk assessments and control reviews, and support investigations and escalation of potential concerns.
- Draft and maintain sanctions policies, procedures, and guidance documents, and deliver organization-wide training and awareness.
- Engage with regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders; monitor regulatory developments and assess their business impact.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, compliance, risk management, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of global sanctions regulations and financial crime compliance.
- Proven experience in sanctions advisory, sanctions investigations, or compliance risk management.
- Ability to analyze complex regulatory frameworks and commercial business scenarios.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience drafting corporate sanctions policies and procedures.
Preferred qualifications
- CAMS, CGSS, ICA Advanced Certificate in Managing Sanctions Risk, or similar certification is preferred.
- Experience in corporate banking, investment banking, trade finance, correspondent banking, or compliance consulting is preferred.
- A formal legal or regulatory background is preferred.
Performance measures
Performance is assessed on the quality and timeliness of advice, regulatory compliance and audit outcomes, risk identification and mitigation, stakeholder satisfaction, and delivery of training and policy enhancements.
