POSITION Overview
The Commercial Sales Manager is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth, market expansion, and profitability within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) segment, specifically in dairy and milling products.
This position requires a strategic leader with proven expertise in developing and executing commercial strategies, leading high-performing sales teams, and achieving key business performance indicators (KPIs) in dynamic and competitive markets.
A key objective of this role is to identify, develop, and expand export opportunities, establishing the company’s presence in new international markets and driving sustainable export sales growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive commercial sales strategies aligned with company goals and market trends.
- Manage and expand the company’s market presence within the dairy and milling product categories.
- Identify, develop, and expand export opportunities by opening new international markets, establishing distribution channels, and driving sustainable export sales growth.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate sales teams to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Monitor KPIs across sales operations, ensuring consistent performance measurement and achievement.
- Build and maintain key customer relationships, partnerships, and distribution networks.
- Analyze sales data and market insights to identify growth opportunities and competitive advantages.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, production, and finance teams to ensure commercial alignment.
- Negotiate and secure profitable contracts, tenders, and trade agreements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and regional trade regulations.
- Provide regular reports and strategic recommendations to senior management.
& Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience in commercial sales within the FMCG sector, preferably in dairy and milling industries.
- Proven export sales and business development experience, with a strong track record of identifying and opening new export markets.
Experience
- in expanding FMCG products into regional and international markets is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage sales budgets, forecasts, and KPIs.
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities with a track record of building effective teams.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline and business acumen.
- Prior experience working in African markets is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in CRM and ERP systems, as well as advanced Excel and data analysis tools.
