Safety Officer

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices on site.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
• Ensure compliance with UAE safety regulations, client HSE requirements, and company policies.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and HSE training programs.
• Monitor PPE use and ensure adequate availability.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and prepare reports and root cause analyses.
• Maintain safety records, permits, MSDS, and inspection checklists.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors on safety matters.
• Ensure proper implementation of hot work, confined space, work-at-height, and other permits.
• Stop unsafe work practices and report violations immediately.
• Assist with emergency drills and ensure emergency preparedness plans are followed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering or safety management.
• NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, or OSHA certification is mandatory or preferred according to the source wording.
• At least 2–5 years of relevant experience in construction, facilities, or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations and international safety standards.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
