Rust Developer (Remote | $30–$100/hr)

About the opportunity

Key responsibilities

• Create realistic coding tasks involving feature implementation and bug fixes.
• Develop deterministic testers and verifiers that accept valid solutions and reject incorrect ones.
• Build and evaluate tasks based on real-world backend workflows.
• Debug issues and optimize performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Review code for correctness, maintainability, and quality.
• Assess solutions using automated tests and objective criteria.

Required qualifications

• Strong backend development experience in Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, C++, or a similar language.
• Experience building scalable services and APIs.
• Proficiency in debugging, performance optimization, and automated testing.
• Strong code review and software quality assessment skills.
• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and computer science fundamentals.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience delivering high-quality, performant backend applications; identifying and resolving bugs and bottlenecks; or refactoring codebases and implementing complex features in large-scale applications.
• Ability to create reliable, objective tests for evaluating software solutions.

Engagement and compensation

• Independent contractor engagement with output-based payment for tasks meeting project specifications.
• Compensation is $30–$100 per hour.
• Approximately 15 hours per week, with a flexible schedule; weekend work is optional.
• Minimum weekly task submission requirements apply.
