Supervises daily operations and supports menu planning, sanitation, guest satisfaction and financial performance.
Education and experience
- High school diploma or GED plus four years of food and beverage, culinary or related professional experience; alternatively, a two-year degree in a related field plus two years of relevant experience.
Operations and team leadership
- Manage day-to-day operations, supervise employees and review staffing levels against service, operational and financial needs.
- Set goals and plans, coach and train employees, monitor performance and encourage effective teamwork.
- Maintain restaurant, bar/lounge and room-service standards, including food handling and sanitation.
- Ensure compliance with food and beverage policies and applicable laws, including local liquor laws.
Guest service and quality
- Provide excellent guest service, handle complaints, gather feedback and take corrective action to improve service.
- Assist servers and hosts during peak periods and oversee service delivery from guest arrival through departure.
- Assist with menu planning and recognize quality products and presentations.
Financial and administrative duties
- Oversee departmental financial matters, including purchasing and invoice payments.
- Share information with supervisors, coworkers and subordinates, and analyze information to solve problems.
- Supervise daily shift operations when the Assistant Restaurant Manager is absent.
