Role overview

Responsibilities

• Define product specifications, features, and functionality while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Design products to applicable standards, including IEC 61439 and UL 857; create 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Support an innovation-focused product development team and source components and materials with external suppliers and partners.
• Follow the NPDI process, complete documentation, and build prototypes to support product design.
• Track technological and industry developments and apply relevant knowledge to improve offerings.
• Follow the engineering change process for existing products and conduct DFMEA product risk assessments.
• Organize drawings and documentation and respond promptly and accurately to design information requests.
• Demonstrate ethics and integrity; undertake other assigned duties.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, design technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of design experience in NPDI/NPD/NPI or switchgear/busbar, or 5–7 years in automotive or manufacturing.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling with Creo, SolidWorks, or an equivalent design package; experience with 2D drafting, first- and third-angle projection, and GD&T.
• Proficiency in PLM software and relevant applications; experience with engineering data management systems such as PDM or PD Cloud.
• Experience designing mild-steel sheet welded assemblies and extruded or injection-molded plastic parts and assemblies.
• Knowledge of process flow, PFMEA, control plans, and standard operating procedure preparation.
• Power distribution or data center experience is advantageous; knowledge of DFM, DFA, and DFE is noted.
• Microsoft Office and Smartsheet proficiency are desirable.
• Strong organization, time management, communication, presentation, interpersonal, analysis, decision-making, and problem-resolution skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.
