Role overview

The Quantitative Trading & Research group develops models and systems for systematic trading across FX, Rates, Commodities and Credit.

The Analyst or Associate role is in the Rates team and focuses primarily on interest rate swaps.

The work spans trading, quantitative research and technology in a fast-paced, globally distributed team; some on-call time is expected.

Job responsibilities

  • Design, build and operate production systematic swaps trading components for pricing, risk projection, hedging and execution, from design through deployment, monitoring and incident resolution.
  • Build research and data infrastructure, including backtesting, simulation, signal and feature pipelines, and reproducible analysis of large historical datasets.
  • Move models and strategies from prototype to production and ensure they are tested, monitored and consistent with research behaviour.
  • Analyze trading data to find patterns, inefficiencies and revenue opportunities and improve pricing, hedging and execution.
  • Research, backtest and calibrate quantitative models and trading strategies; expand shared modeling, analytics and automation libraries.
  • Support live trading systems, investigate issues and improve monitoring and controls.

Required qualifications and skills

  • Degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering or another quantitative field.
  • Relevant full-time experience in systematic trading, software engineering, quantitative development or a comparable technical role.
  • Strong production object-oriented programming in Java or C++ and Python proficiency for research and data analysis.
  • End-to-end software ownership covering design, testing, deployment and operation of live systems.
  • Knowledge of probability, statistics and advanced data analysis techniques.
  • Attention to detail, adaptability, drive, collaboration and active interest in markets and quantitative trading.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior Rates market experience, including swaps, cash or futures, is preferred.
  • Experience with electronic or automated trading systems, such as market data, pricing, order management or pre-trade risk controls, is preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale datasets and performance-sensitive or low-latency systems is preferred.

On-call expectations

  • Some on-call time is expected.

Regulatory requirements

  • The role includes UK regulated activity; the successful candidate must meet the firm's fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence requirements and obtain FCA and/or PRA approval where applicable.
