Quality Shift Leader

Purpose of role

Training and competence

• Develop quality-control teams to ensure competence in relevant tasks and keep training records current with the training department.
• Develop training techniques for different learning styles and conduct competency checks across critical control points.

Auditing and compliance

• Ensure scheduled internal factory audits cover Good Manufacturing Practice, glass and hard plastics, and hygiene.
• Carry out internal audits against BRC and customer codes of practice; raise, communicate, follow up, and close non-conformances.
• Support site-visit audits and auditor engagement as required.
• Carry out traceability and mass-balance exercises and routinely audit processes and paperwork.

Shift leadership and improvement

• Motivate the team and support technical colleagues and other departments with operational challenges.
• Organize shift cover, conduct return-to-work interviews, and manage staff time and attendance.
• Propose continuous improvements, lead problem-solving and investigations, and investigate customer complaints.
• Ensure equipment calibration is completed to schedule and cover QC tasks as needed.
• Collect data for weekly KPI reports and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications and skills

• Internal auditing, training the trainer, Intermediate Food Hygiene, and HACCP qualifications are desirable; training will be provided.
• The role calls for problem-solving, analytical, decision-making, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Candidates should be accurate and detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines, take ownership, motivate others, and have good IT literacy.
