Project Director - Data Centre

Role overview

Project and construction delivery

• Lead multidisciplinary teams and establish governance, reporting, communications, and performance frameworks.
• Deliver to contract, budget, schedule, milestones, and client expectations; monitor performance and implement corrective actions.
• Manage project risks and improvement initiatives; direct contractors, resources, construction methods, and recovery plans.
• Coordinate civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, ICT, commissioning, quality, and HSE disciplines.
• Ensure construction follows approved designs, specifications, codes, regulations, and robust quality procedures.

Clients and commercial management

• Serve as primary contact for clients, developers, contractors, utilities, authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Lead steering committees, executive reviews, and stakeholder sessions; advise on progress, risks, opportunities, and commercial matters.
• Administer FIDIC and project-specific contracts; manage claims, variations, extensions of time, disputes, and financial performance.

Data centre systems and handover

• Oversee data halls, administration buildings, substations, utility plants, generators, ICT infrastructure, networks, and support facilities.
• Oversee electrical systems, UPS and batteries, cooling and HVAC, fuel, fire protection, BMS/EPMS, structured cabling, security, and ELV systems.
• Ensure Tier III/Tier IV reliability, availability, redundancy, resilience, and performance requirements are met.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, operational readiness, and transition to operations.
• Complete handover documentation, certifications, warranties, O&M manuals, and as-built records.

Health, safety, quality and environment

• Champion Jacobs' Zero Harm culture and ensure compliance with client requirements, local legislation, and international HSEQ standards.
• Lead safety reviews, quality audits, and improvement initiatives; promote accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, electrical, or mechanical engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related discipline.
• 20+ years of overall experience in construction, engineering, project management, or construction supervision.
• 10+ years of direct experience in hyperscale or Tier III/Tier IV data centres, cloud campuses, digital infrastructure, or mission-critical facilities.
• Experience managing large multidisciplinary teams in complex construction environments.
• Experience in testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, operational readiness, and facility handover.
• Strong understanding of FIDIC contracts, project controls, risk management, and commercial administration.

• Onsite employees are expected to attend a Jacobs workplace full time, as required by the nature of the role.
