Role overview

Portfolio governance and reporting

• Oversee portfolio governance and alignment with corporate strategy, bank governance, reporting, and committee requirements.
• Prepare and run monthly portfolio governance committee meetings, reporting portfolio health, highlights, risks, and recommendations to senior and executive leadership.
• Define portfolio dashboards, KPIs, reporting structures, and frameworks for disciplined execution and transparency.
• Monitor portfolio risks, issues, dependencies, timelines, and impacts, escalating matters requiring senior support.

Planning, delivery, and value

• Coordinate annual demand planning, prioritization, and consolidation of requirements with business, technology, enablement, and control teams.
• Review portfolio financials; optimize investment and resource allocation and maintain a master resource plan.
• Ensure projects align with strategy, have defined business cases and measurable benefits, and deliver intended outcomes.
• Track system adoption and benefits realization after go-live; transition completed projects to value tracking.
• Develop master portfolio plans, resolve interdependencies, and work with program managers on issues and escalations.

Team and process development

• Coach executives and delivery teams on portfolio thinking and develop project and portfolio management maturity.
• Work with change teams on staffing and productivity; supervise, coach, and develop junior team members.
• Improve management principles, processes, tools, and templates; educate teams on PMO processes and templates.

Experience and qualifications

• University degree in technology, management, or equivalent; MBA or equivalent master's degree is preferred.
• At least 15 years of total experience, including at least 10 years managing portfolios, project governance, and delivery.
• At least five years overseeing or running large programs of work; experience working with banking IT or a PMO.
• Experience managing teams of 5–10 people and overseeing more than five projects or programs concurrently.
• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification and SAFe or another agile certification.

Skills and experience

• Experienced in executive reporting and presentations, portfolio planning, governance, and benefits realization.
• Can turn large volumes of data into concise reports with recommendations, options, and insights.
• Experienced with Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methods, cross-functional teams, and senior stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and Excel; communicates clearly and handles confidential information appropriately.
