Role and team
Own the vision, roadmap, and delivery of the Enterprise Ontology Platform, which maps heterogeneous firm data to a canonical enterprise ontology.
Work with an Ontology Platform Engineering Lead and 5–6 engineers, translating business and regulatory needs into a scalable product.
The role also represents ontology needs to the Foundational Data Platform and helps shape capabilities it depends on.
The initial scope is the ontology platform, with potential to expand to adjacent data products or a larger product organization.
Product strategy and roadmap
- Define a multi-year strategy to develop the platform into a mature self-service ecosystem.
- Balance immediate source mappings with scalable capabilities such as configurable rules and improved break detection.
- Create product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria; manage the backlog and trade-offs.
- Track onboarding time, break resolution, mapping coverage, and other success metrics.
Platform alignment and ontology
- Identify foundational platform capability gaps; lead build-versus-leverage decisions and drive roadmap prioritization.
- Track dependencies and delivery risks, and clearly articulate requirements for the foundational platform team.
- Support flexible, extensible business-owned ontology definitions, mappings, and rules.
- Shape configuration workflows and how users surface, triage, and resolve data discrepancies.
- Partner with Data Governance and Compliance on enterprise data standards and regulatory expectations.
Stakeholder partnership
- Gather business needs, align teams with differing data definitions, and communicate roadmap, trade-offs, and progress.
- Represent business needs in technical design discussions and help ensure proposed solutions address the underlying problem.
- Plan and track business-team inputs for ontology definitions, mappings, and rules alongside engineering timelines.
Minimum qualifications
- 5–8 years of product management experience on data-intensive platforms, such as MDM, knowledge graphs, data mesh, or enterprise data warehousing.
- Deep data-modeling knowledge and comfort discussing graph databases, RDF, SPARQL, APIs, and ETL/ELT patterns with engineers; coding is not required.
- Experience managing dependencies with a separate infrastructure or foundational platform team.
- Ability to synthesize canonical structures from complex data and conflicting source definitions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication with technical leads and non-technical executives.
- Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience is strongly preferred.
Additional advantages
- Familiarity with ontology standards such as OWL or RDF, or knowledge-graph experience.
- Experience with metadata management tools or data cataloging software.
- Experience leading a 0-to-1 product launch in a large corporate environment is a plus, not required.
Pay and benefits
- Expected base salary is USD 150,000–160,000 in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and other states; actual pay varies with skills, experience, education, performance, and location.
- Employees may be considered for a discretionary annual bonus and/or equity awards.
- Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) match, paid time off, holidays, parental leave, and professional development reimbursement.
