Procurement Manager - Steel

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies for steel structures and construction projects.
• Manage procurement of structural steel, plates, sections, welding consumables, fasteners, bolts, paints, coatings, and other project materials.
• Source and evaluate suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors based on quality, cost, delivery, and technical capability.
• Obtain and negotiate quotations, commercial terms, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate with engineering and project teams to understand material specifications and project requirements.
• Ensure materials are procured in line with approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project schedules.
• Monitor purchase orders, material deliveries, lead times, and supplier performance.
• Maintain relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Coordinate with QA/QC on material approvals, MTCs, inspection requirements, and compliance documentation.
• Identify potential procurement delays and develop alternative sourcing solutions.
• Control procurement costs and support cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
• Maintain procurement records, vendor databases, purchase orders, and delivery tracking.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
• 10–15 years of procurement experience, preferably in steel structures, fabrication, construction, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, fabrication requirements, fasteners, welding consumables, and coating materials.
• Proven experience in supplier sourcing, negotiations, cost control, and vendor management.
• Strong understanding of project procurement processes and material lead times.
• Experience dealing with steel mills, fabricators, suppliers, and subcontractors is preferred.
• UAE/GCC procurement experience is preferred.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and team management skills.

Compensation

• Pay is AED 15,000–17,000 per month.
