Role Purpose
Accept purchase requisitions and bills of material as inputs for purchase orders.
Prepare purchase orders and perform vendor selection.
Job Accountabilities & Activities
- Receive and review stores requisitions for goods and services being purchased.
- Receive and review the bill of material for job-related purchasing.
- Receive documented proposals or quotes and record tender information including vendor price and delivery terms.
- Handle subcontract jobs including fabrications, machining, calibration, and building maintenance.
- Carry out value analysis and life cycle costing with the supply chain manager.
- Ensure relevant information, drawings, and procedures are enclosed with the purchase order.
- Place purchase orders within delegated authority and ensure commercial protection.
- Procure goods and services only from approved suppliers.
- Update the supplier database for new suppliers per protocol with QC involvement.
- Liaise with suppliers by telephone and mail as required.
- Review purchase requisitions with the Procurement Lead before issuing purchase orders.
- Communicate progress of ordered goods and services to internal customers.
Additional Activities
Maintain a manual file and log of purchase orders with date, job number, inspection level, and traceability for ERP backup.
Send RFQs with all relevant details to suppliers.
Develop strategies for cost-effective procurement.
Use supplier performance and history within the ERP system before placing orders.
Rationalize the vendor database by setting up partnerships and framework agreements with key vendors.
Education & Certifications
- Engineering graduate or higher qualification.
Required Years of Experience
- 2 to 3 years of experience.
