Procurement Engineer - Buildings Contracting

Role summary

Procurement planning and execution

• Develop procurement plans aligned with project schedules, material needs, and budgets.
• Review requisitions, bills of quantities, specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
• Source construction materials, equipment, tools, and services from approved local and international suppliers.
• Track procurement schedules, purchase orders, and deliveries to avoid project delays.

Supplier sourcing and evaluation

• Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors.
• Analyze quotations for price, quality, and compliance; maintain supplier records and evaluate supplier performance.
• Negotiate with suppliers to achieve savings and favorable commercial terms.

Technical and commercial review

• Review technical submittals, material specifications, compliance documents, and product data sheets.
• Coordinate required material approvals with technical and project teams before ordering.
• Prepare technical and commercial comparison sheets and verify compliance with specifications, consultant requirements, applicable codes, and approved submittals.
• Clarify supplier deviations, exclusions, warranties, and delivery conditions.

Orders, costs, and delivery

• Prepare purchase orders with quantities, prices, delivery schedules, payment terms, warranties, and technical requirements.
• Follow up on order confirmations, manufacturing, dispatch, and delivery; check invoices against orders and delivery records.
• Monitor expenditure against budgets and identify savings through alternative sourcing, bulk purchasing, value engineering, and negotiations.
• Coordinate delivery priorities with site teams and resolve shortages, damage, rejected deliveries, returns, supplier claims, and warranty issues.

Compliance and reporting

• Ensure compliance with company policies, project specifications, contracts, regulations, and quality requirements.
• Prepare procurement status, cost comparison, and supplier performance reports and maintain an up-to-date procurement tracker.
• Identify supply risks, recommend mitigations, retain traceable procurement records, and support audits.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Typically 3–7 years of experience in procurement for building projects.
