Principle Power Systems Engineer

Role Overview

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead MV and HV power systems design and delivery from concept through construction and commissioning.
• Provide technical leadership, develop resilient power system strategies, and advise clients.
• Support project development, bid activities, business growth, and identification of new opportunities.
• Prepare and review specifications, reports, calculations, and design documentation.
• Lead power system studies and network analysis activities.
• Oversee budgets, schedules, technical quality, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and represent the business at client and industry events.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, inspections, and commissioning activities when required.

Key Technical Expertise

• MV and HV electrical network design and power system studies using ETAP or equivalent software.
• Protection coordination, protection scheme design, load flow, fault level, arc flash, harmonic, and earthing studies.
• Grid connections, utility interface requirements, standby and emergency generation, and resilient control systems.
• Electrical equipment specification and technical evaluation across project stages from concept to completion.
• Application of IEC, BS, and other international electrical standards.

What We're Looking For

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant MV/HV power systems engineering and project delivery experience.
• Experience in consultancy, engineering design, or specialist power systems environments.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution and network analysis.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
• Ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and coordinate multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience managing technical quality, project schedules, and commercial performance.
• Chartered Engineer status or a clear pathway toward professional registration is highly advantageous.
