Role overview

Experienced Payments Risk Analyst role in Lightspeed’s Global Risk team, based in Belfast.

Independently manage less-defined and complex risk work, contribute to team projects and improve operations.

The role builds on Analyst I capability and involves sound judgement with minimal direction.

What you’ll do

  • Manage complex transaction, merchant, onboarding, fraud, credit and compliance cases across risk queues, owning end-to-end assessments.
  • Apply company, partner, supportability and restricted-product policies to complex reviews and make decisions with imperfect information.
  • Use reports, risk signals, trends, operational data and web-service tools to identify emerging threats and suspicious activity.
  • Balance portfolio protection and chargeback risk by assessing chargeback likelihood alongside merchant repayment capacity.
  • Resolve compliance violations and complex cases, identify material risks, escalate unresolved issues and contribute to follow-up.
  • Identify recurring issues and control gaps across tools, workflows, queues, policies and playbooks; recommend practical improvements.
  • Produce case summaries, findings, recommendations and decision rationales; maintain accurate records and contribute to knowledge materials.
  • Lead complex customer communications and collaborate with Support, Merchant Services, Product, risk analysts and other teams.
  • Contribute to incidents, reviews, investigations, projects, process improvements and team best practices; prioritise competing work.

What you need to bring

  • At least 2 years of experience in payments, fraud, credit risk, compliance, financial services operations or a related discipline.
  • Exposure to structured workflows, case management, queues or service-level targets; experience following procedures and maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge of Card Scheme rules and regulations and the full chargeback process, including risk timeframes.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets and strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills.
  • Experience managing increasingly complex structured case work with limited direction; ability to work independently and make decisions from available information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and collaborate effectively.
  • Interest in deepening payments, fraud, credit risk and merchant risk knowledge and suggesting improvements.

Benefits

  • Career growth opportunities, collaborative colleagues, team activities and social events.
  • Equity scheme, flexible paid time off, private medical insurance and a health plan.
  • Annual health and wellness credit and access to mental health support.
