Operational Insight and Assurance Analyst

Location and schedule

• The role is based at Heathrow Airport.

Role overview

Assurance and reporting

• Observe frontline processes and validate whether operational systems accurately record activity, timestamps, statuses, and outcomes.
• Reconcile source and target data, validate counts, identify missing or duplicate records, test rules and calculations, and manually validate samples.
• Independently reproduce Power BI, KPI, SLA, and management reporting results and verify agreed definitions and methods.
• Trace events across operations, systems, data ingestion and transformation, and final reporting; identify information that was lost, changed, misclassified, or misinterpreted.
• Use analytics to identify trends and anomalies and focus assurance work on areas with the greatest potential impact.

Documentation and collaboration

• Maintain KPI and SLA definitions, data dictionaries, business rules, calculation methodologies, data lineage, validation procedures, QA evidence, and SOPs.
• Support root-cause analysis and corrective action, working with operations, BI, and Data Engineering to address causes and improve source data quality.
• Engage with operational management, Performance, Quality, Compliance, and other stakeholders; support customer, audit, or regulatory requirements where appropriate.

Requirements

• Operational, performance, or quality data experience is essential, as are strong Excel skills and experience validating datasets or calculations.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills, attention to detail, constructive challenge, and comfort working with both frontline and technical teams are expected.
• Power BI, SQL, Microsoft Fabric, Power Query, DAX, data modelling, or data-quality framework experience is advantageous.
• Aviation, transport, or another regulated operational environment is beneficial but not essential.
