Odoo Techno-Functional – Accounting

Position overview

Accounting responsibilities

• Work with chart of accounts, journals, taxes, fiscal positions, invoices, credit/debit notes, and payments.
• Handle bank reconciliation, AR/AP, aging, general ledger, trial balance, P&L, balance sheet, analytic accounting, and multi-currency.
• Support payment terms, deferred revenue/expenses, assets, inventory valuation entries, and month-end and year-end closing.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.

ERP and techno-functional responsibilities

• Understand end-to-end sales, purchasing, inventory, warehouse, logistics, delivery, CRM, product, pricing, manufacturing where applicable, HR, payroll, approvals, access, and reporting processes.
• Bridge business users, Finance, Management, and Odoo developers; translate business requirements into Odoo solutions.
• Identify whether issues relate to configuration, access rights, data, workflow, or customization; configure, troubleshoot, and test processes.
• Understand Odoo models, fields, workflows, and basic technical architecture; review customizations and coordinate with developers.
• Prepare test scenarios and conduct UAT; support implementation, migration, upgrades, and process improvements.
• Train users and prepare SOPs and process documentation.

Technical and scripting skills

• Practical knowledge includes Python, Odoo ORM, XML, SQL/PostgreSQL, basic JavaScript, Odoo Studio, automated/server actions, scheduled actions/cron jobs, data import/export, API concepts, debugging, and log analysis.
• Should be able to write or modify basic-to-intermediate scripts for automation, data manipulation, validation, reporting, and troubleshooting.

Required experience and qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 4–6 years of hands-on Odoo experience with strong accounting exposure and overall ERP understanding.
• At least three complete Odoo business/accounting cycles handled independently.
• Cycles include operational processing from sales or purchase through inventory movement, invoicing, payment, and accounting; monthly reconciliation, review, valuation, adjustments, closing, and reporting; and year-end closing, carry-forward, statements, and audit support.
• Proven techno-functional experience, practical Python/scripting knowledge, and SQL/PostgreSQL knowledge.
• Experience working with Odoo developers or implementation partners; strong troubleshooting, analytical, and process-mapping skills.
• Candidates with only data-entry or limited Odoo Accounting experience are insufficient.

Preferred experience and skills

• Experience with multiple Odoo versions is preferred; Odoo 7 to 18/19 experience, including migration or upgrade projects, is highly desirable.
• Odoo implementation/migration/upgrades, API, XML, JavaScript, Odoo Studio and automation, custom module testing, multi-company/multi-currency, UAE VAT, inventory valuation, and process automation are preferred.

Compensation

• Full-time position with salary of AED 4,000–8,000 per month, depending on experience and capability.

Work arrangement

• Work location is in person; Dubai is listed as preferred.
