MEP Project Engineer

Role overview

Site coordination and technical delivery

• Lead on-site HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and ELV installation activities.
• Coordinate MEP works with civil, structural, and architectural teams and follow approved drawings, method statements, and project programs.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical clarifications; support resolution of design conflicts and site issues.
• Supervise subcontractors and site labor, monitor workmanship, and enforce quality and HSE procedures.

Approvals, materials, and handover

• Coordinate inspections and approvals with Saudi Civil Defense and other local authorities; prepare installations for testing and certification.
• Support procurement and material evaluations; monitor MEP material delivery, storage, and installation against approved submittals.
• Track progress, coordinate testing and commissioning, and prepare as-built drawings and O&M manuals for handover.

Interfaces and risk

• Identify and mitigate interface risks across split contracts and multiple subcontractors.
• Maintain interface matrices, responsibility demarcation documents, sequencing plans, and a live interface risk register.
• Lead coordination meetings and workshops to resolve interface and sequencing conflicts and prevent delays and claims.
• Resolve site issues and propose constructability improvements and value engineering while maintaining compliance and performance.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5–7 years of MEP installation experience, including at least 3–5 years in the UAE.
• UAE Professional Accreditation is required.
• Experience managing MEP works on industrial facilities, logistics warehouses, large commercial, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of UAE requirements and local authority approval processes; experience managing split packages or multiple subcontractors.

Skills and competencies

• Experience with project management systems for project tracking, submittals, and site reporting, such as Aconex, Procore, BIM, or Primavera.
• Strong leadership, site coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Cost awareness and commercial acumen; ability to work effectively in a multicultural, fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in English is essential.
