Filing, retrieving, and maintaining patient medical records.
Records handling
- Receive records from the filing rack in response to requests.
- Retrieve records for continuing care, appointments, walk-in patients, insurance, and administrative purposes.
- Prepare tracer cards and save requests in the HMS before retrieval.
- Trace wrongly filed records and record missing files in the Missing File Register.
- Enter return details in the HMS and file returned records.
- Check pending and unreturned records periodically and report them to the supervisor.
- Keep the filing area tidy and arrange files on the racks.
Department and safety duties
- Answer incoming calls promptly and appropriately.
- Work evenings, weekends, and holidays according to the department schedule.
- Support quality improvement and assurance activities and attend requested training and in-house programs.
- Maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively with staff, associates, and management.
- Follow infection-control, patient-safety, occupational safety, waste-management, and emergency procedures.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses; assist with risk assessments and incident reports.
- Attend applicable safety and infection-control training and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Qualifications and skills
- Undergraduate qualification or equivalent; experience may be with or without prior experience.
- Computer literacy and excellent spoken and written English are required.
- Knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not essential.
