Role overview

Team and clinical responsibilities

• Lead team recruitment support, supervision, appraisals, career development, absenteeism, and competency management.
• Provide specialist occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or speech and language services within the relevant scope of practice.
• Train the team on service procedures and coordinate care with multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Manage conflict and formal or informal complaints involving staff or patients.

Service operations and quality

• Ensure timely, complete client records, reports, and administrative documentation.
• Monitor referrals, insurance requests and approvals, assessments, interventions, discharges, record keeping, and clinical decisions.
• Prepare statistics and third-party reports; monitor service provision and team objectives.
• Develop service policies and review processes for efficiency, regulatory alignment, and contemporary best practice.
• Develop key performance indicators and provide regular updates to senior rehabilitation leadership.

Resources, safety, and development

• Identify service expansion opportunities, including new outpatient departments.
• Estimate facility, supply, and equipment needs; manage inventory through designated staff and prepare budget estimates with senior leaders.
• Respond to adverse incidents, participate in quality improvement and safety activities, and ensure staff comply with health and safety requirements.
• Undertake risk assessments and implement actions to reduce risk; update monthly schedules.

Role requirements

• Provide accountable outpatient rehabilitation leadership and comply with local regulatory laws, standards, protocols, and facility policies.
• Demonstrate clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and independent judgement when managing complex cases.
• Work collaboratively with senior leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
