Mechanical Technician – Dry Process Sand Plant

Overview

Job Purpose

1. Mechanical Maintenance

• Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of:
• Crushers, screens, feeders
• Belt conveyors and idlers
• Rotary dryers / fluid bed dryers
• Silos, hoppers, and material handling systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Replace and repair components such as bearings, gearboxes, belts, couplings, shafts, and seals.
• Carry out alignment, tensioning, and lubrication tasks.

2. Equipment Reliability

• Ensure high reliability of plant equipment by adhering to preventive maintenance schedules.
• Monitor equipment performance and report abnormalities.
• Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring breakdowns.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime.

3. Plant Operations Support

• Assist in plant start-up, shutdown, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with plant operators to maintain smooth and continuous production.
• Support installation and upgrading of mechanical systems and equipment.

4. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Comply fully with UAE HSE regulations and company policies.
• Follow all safety procedures including:
• Permit to Work (PTW)
• Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO)

• Confined Space Entry

• Use required PPE at all times.
• Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents immediately.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and daily reports.
• Complete checklists for preventive maintenance activities.
• Report spare parts requirements and coordinate with stores.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or ITI / Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum
• 3–5 years of experience
• in:
• Dry sand processing plants
• Aggregate / quarry operations
• Industrial or oilfield service environments

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of:
• Conveyor systems and material handling equipment
• Crushers, vibrating screens, and dryers
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
• Hands-on experience with mechanical tools and maintenance practices

Behavioral Competencies

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Team-oriented with good communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure in remote site conditions
• High commitment to safety and quality standards

Working Conditions

• Site-based role in
• remote oilfield / industrial environment
• Exposure to dust, noise, and high temperatures
• Shift work including
• night shifts, overtime, and weekends
• as required
