Material Engineer – Roads & Infrastructure

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Review proposed materials and prepare or review Material Approval Requests and technical documentation.
• Coordinate submissions, approvals, tests, and inspections with consultants and authorities.
• Review test reports, laboratory results, certificates, and technical data sheets.
• Check compliance with project specifications, drawings, method statements, and standards.
• Monitor material quality across roadworks, asphalt, aggregates, concrete, drainage, utilities, and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate laboratory testing, conduct site inspections, and review supplier documentation.
• Coordinate with project teams on technical material issues and maintain approval, test, inspection, and non-conformance records.
• Assist with site issues and recommendations; support project quality standards and milestones.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the UAE; proven roads and infrastructure project experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, testing procedures, roadworks, asphalt, aggregates, concrete, sub-base, and road base.
• Experience preparing material submissions and obtaining approvals.
• Understanding of specifications, testing standards, and quality-control procedures; ability to review laboratory reports and material certificates.
• Knowledge of relevant ASTM, BS, AASHTO, and UAE standards.
• RTA and Dubai Municipality specifications are highly preferred.
• Strong communication and coordination skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical documentation systems.
• Arabic is described as preferred/required in contradictory wording.
• UAE roads and infrastructure consultancy or contracting experience, RTA approvals, authority submissions, and technical coordination are preferred; a UAE driving license and immediate availability are advantages.

Pay

• Pay is AED 7,000–15,000 per month.
