Process role in water and effluent treatment, focused on seawater reverse-osmosis desalination systems.

Knowledge and skills

Engineering design and process development
- Develop mass and energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs for seawater RO desalination systems.
- Design and size RO trains, pumps, pretreatment units, and post-treatment systems.
- Prepare equipment specifications and analyze membrane performance using software.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for vessels and high-pressure piping networks.
Technical analysis and modeling
- Simulate system performance under varying feedwater conditions and analyze recovery, energy consumption, and membrane fouling.
- Evaluate energy recovery devices and design pressure exchanger systems.
- Review laboratory data, pilot trials, and membrane autopsy reports.
Project execution and commissioning
- Lead or review design reports, datasheets, BOQs, and technical specifications; coordinate across engineering disciplines.
- Participate in HAZOP, design reviews, and risk assessments.
- Support factory and site acceptance testing and commissioning; diagnose process bottlenecks, fouling, scaling, and underperformance.
- Train operations teams on membrane cleaning, energy optimization, and water quality control.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE).
- 15–20 years of required experience.
