Maintenance Mechanical Engineer (Bihler)

Role overview

What you'll do

• Develop preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies to ensure equipment reliability and production continuity.
• Analyze downtime, MTBF, MTTR, and failure modes; implement corrective and preventive actions to improve machine availability.
• Lead structured root cause analysis using RCA, A3, and 5 Why for cam-controlled systems, injection molding equipment, and automated production lines.
• Optimize maintenance plans and standards, including inspection routines, lubrication, wear-part replacement, and overhaul intervals.
• Own mechanical performance of cam-controlled forming and assembly machines and plastic injection molding systems, including clamping and cooling systems.
• Collaborate with production, toolmaking, and engineering teams to improve stability, cycle-time consistency, and process performance.
• Use condition data, wear analysis, and failure trends to reduce unplanned downtime through predictive maintenance.
• Support commissioning and industrialization, ensuring mechanical robustness, maintainability, and serial-production readiness.
• Improve breakdown rates, equipment lifetime, and manufacturing process stability; standardize maintenance processes and documentation.
• Guide maintenance technicians on complex troubleshooting and collaborate with toolmakers, engineers, and OEMs on improvements and upgrades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, automation engineering, mechatronics, or a similar qualification.
• Minimum three years of experience in industrial automation and metal stamping, bending, and welding industries.
• Knowledge of cam-controlled machines such as Bihler, Wafios, or Finzer; Bihler is preferred.

Skills

• Experience with CAD, SPS, and HMI systems; programming skills are advantageous.
• Quick comprehension, continuous learning, and willingness to work shifts.
