The role supports the Patriot software team developing new capabilities for an air-defense system.
The engineer works with software developers, system architects, and product leads to verify that delivered solutions meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead testing activities and develop test plans, objectives, and timelines.
- Review software requirements for clarity, completeness, and testability.
- Design and execute manual and automated test cases for new and modified software.
- Analyze test results against requirements and document discrepancies.
- Share status, issues, and risks with stakeholders and leadership.
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with developers, systems architects, and other teams.
- Work in an onsite lab and interact extensively with systems design and software development teams.
- Light travel may be required.
Required qualifications
- Typically requires a STEM bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
- Experience with software engineering and with validation, verification, requirements analysis, and/or testing.
- A Secret security clearance is required; the posting states active and transferable clearance is required before starting and interim clearance must be obtainable.
Preferred qualifications
- Active Secret clearance.
- Earned Value Management experience and knowledge of functional, integration, regression, or performance testing methods.
- Experience with DOORS or another requirements traceability tool, plus bug tracking and test management tools.
- Testing leadership, detailed test planning, status reporting, and technical team guidance experience.
- Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication.
Work arrangement
- The role is onsite in Huntsville, Alabama, with work primarily onsite.
