About The Role
The Lead, Utility Tech is TAQA's technical centre of expertise for utility operations platforms — a hands-on technical leader responsible for platform customisation and development, system integration design and maintenance, incident and problem resolution, platform performance optimisation, and the project delivery of platform enhancements and upgrades. This role leads a team of 3 technical specialists and works in close partnership with the Manager, Platform Operations and TAQA's operations, engineering, and field service teams.
Utility Operations Platform Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Act as TAQA Distribution's technical authority for utility operations platforms — IBM Maximo/MAS, Esri ArcGIS, and ServiceMax — owning the technical configuration standards, development governance, and platform improvement roadmap, ensuring all three platforms are technically robust, performant, and strategically aligned with TAQA's asset management and field operations requirements.
- Contribute to the technical platform roadmap in partnership with the Manager, Platform Operations — assessing IBM MAS cloud migration opportunities on Azure, Esri ArcGIS platform modernisation options, and ServiceMax capability expansions — providing technical feasibility assessments, effort estimates, and implementation approach recommendations that inform platform investment decisions.
- Lead a team of 3 utility technology specialists — providing technical direction, workload management, quality assurance of technical outputs, and career development — building a high-performing utility technology team that operates with rigour, technical depth, and a strong service orientation toward TAQA's operational teams.
- IBM Maximo / MAS — Technical Administration & Customisation
- Administer and technically configure IBM Maximo / Maximo Application Suite (MAS) — including application designer customisations, database configuration (DB2 or Oracle DB), workflow designer, escalation configuration, cron task management, Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) adapter setup, automation scripting (Python/Jython), and security group administration — ensuring the EAM platform is robustly configured and technically stable for TAQA's asset management operations.
- Lead technical customisation and development within IBM Maximo/MAS — designing and implementing bespoke application extensions, custom automation scripts, specialised workflow configurations, and tailored reporting solutions — ensuring customisations are upgrade-safe, well-documented, and meet TAQA's asset management business requirements without compromising platform supportability.
- Govern IBM Maximo data integrity and master data quality — including asset master, location hierarchy, job plan and PM records, spare parts catalogue, and work order data — implementing data validation rules, data quality monitoring, and data cleansing processes that ensure Maximo's asset data is accurate, complete, and supports reliable operational decision-making.
- Lead IBM Maximo/MAS upgrade, patch, and migration projects — managing technical impact assessments, environment preparation, customisation migration, regression testing, and production deployment — ensuring platform upgrades are delivered with minimal operational disruption and that TAQA's Maximo environment remains current and vendor-supported.
- Esri ArcGIS — Technical Administration & Spatial Data Management
- Administer TAQA's Esri ArcGIS Enterprise environment — including ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, SQL Server or Oracle geodatabase administration, feature layer and map service management, ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 configuration, and user and licence management — ensuring the GIS platform is reliable, performant, and correctly structured to support TAQA's network asset management and field operations use cases.
- Manage ArcGIS network dataset and utility network data quality — including network topology validation, asset geometry management, connectivity rule maintenance, and GIS data import from field surveys and as-built documentation — ensuring TAQA's GIS network model accurately represents the physical distribution network and supports reliable operational and regulatory spatial analysis.
- Develop and maintain ArcGIS integrations with IBM Maximo — ensuring asset location data, spatial work order information, and network topology changes are synchronised accurately between the GIS and EAM platforms — and maintain ArcGIS REST API integrations that serve spatial data to ServiceMax and TAQA's data platform.
ServiceMax — Field Force Management Technical Administration
- Administer and configure TAQA's ServiceMax field force management platform — including work order management configuration, intelligent scheduling and dispatch rule setup, resource management and skills assignment, mobile field engineer app configuration, customer notification workflow design, service contract and warranty management, and ServiceMax/Salesforce platform administration — ensuring field force management operations are efficient, accurate, and data-driven.
- Develop and maintain ServiceMax integrations with IBM Maximo — governing work order data exchange, asset information synchronisation, and completion data feedback loops — ensuring field job data flows accurately between ServiceMax (field execution) and Maximo (asset history and maintenance records), maintaining a consistent, reliable view of TAQA's field service activity across the operational platform ecosystem.
Platform Performance Optimisation & Continuous Improvement
- Continuously monitor and optimise the performance of TAQA's utility operations platforms — including IBM Maximo database and application performance tuning, ArcGIS map service and geodatabase performance management, and ServiceMax scheduling engine performance — using platform monitoring tools and data-driven analysis to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks before they affect TAQA's operational teams.
- Evaluate and adopt AI-powered and automation capabilities within TAQA's utility platform environment — including IBM Maximo Monitor for IoT asset health monitoring, Maximo Predict for AI-based failure prediction, ArcGIS spatial analytics automation, and ServiceMax AI-powered intelligent scheduling — and develop Python or automation scripts that reduce manual operational effort and improve platform intelligence across the utility technology estate.
- Develop and deliver specialised technical training programmes for TAQA's utility technology team and operational platform users — covering IBM Maximo/MAS, ArcGIS, and ServiceMax — building internal platform expertise, reducing reliance on external vendor support for routine platform activities, and ensuring TAQA's operational teams leverage platform capabilities to their full potential.

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent
