Role overview

Work arrangement

• Works from home; occasional planned travel to the Southfield, Michigan office may be required.
• May work at the Southfield office if requested by the team member.

Outcomes and activities

• Review monthly journal entries for accuracy and adequate supporting documentation.
• Research and implement appropriate accounting policies for new or changing products and services; advise on accounting implications of strategic decisions.
• Review or prepare clear, accurate variance explanations for general ledger accounts and financial statement line items.
• Improve financial reporting and communicate business performance and emerging trends through actionable analysis.
• Review complex monthly general ledger reconciliations and ensure supporting documentation is adequate.
• Prepare and distribute accurate monthly internal financial reports on schedule, incorporating improvements as directed.
• Partner with business leaders to understand performance drivers and support decision-making.
• Maintain effective internal controls, written policies, procedures, flowcharts, and complete quarterly self-assessments.
• Lead control, risk reduction, efficiency, and automation improvements; prepare supporting schedules on time.
• Lead cross-functional projects and provide guidance, coaching, and subject matter expertise to analysts and team members.
