Role overview

Mechanical design and technical review

• Lead HVAC, plumbing and LPG design in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes.
• Undertake and oversee engineering calculations and life cycle cost analyses.
• Oversee and produce drawings using AutoCAD, Revit MEP and other relevant software.
• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations and design documentation.
• Review construction-phase technical submissions for compliance with the approved design.
• Apply ASHRAE, International Mechanical Code, International Plumbing Code, NFPA and BS 8301 requirements.

Approvals and client engagement

• Prepare and coordinate submissions to Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defence, DEWA, Trakhees, EHS and other relevant authorities.
• Manage submissions, respond to technical queries and follow up for required approvals.
• Attend client meetings and present solutions, design proposals and technical recommendations.
• Communicate technical matters clearly to clients and project stakeholders.

Team and project delivery

• Lead and mentor mechanical engineers and engineering technologists, providing technical guidance and supporting development.
• Plan, allocate and monitor resources to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Maintain technical quality, design consistency and coordination across deliverables.
• Manage projects independently through completion and coordinate design with architectural, structural, electrical and other disciplines.
• Resolve design interfaces and technical issues; undertake additional duties as required by the MEP Director and senior management.

Essential qualifications and experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a nationally accredited engineering programme.
• More than 10 years in an international design consultancy, focused on building-services design and project management.
• Experience with multi-storey high-rise, commercial, healthcare and residential developments.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and LPG design, calculations, life cycle cost analysis, drawing production and technical report writing.
• Knowledge of Dubai authority submission and approval requirements, including DM, DCD, DEWA, Trakhees and EHS.
• Understanding of ASHRAE, International Mechanical Code, International Plumbing Code, NFPA and BS 8301.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP and relevant mechanical engineering design software.
• Project management, team leadership, prioritization and multidisciplinary coordination experience.
• Strong organisational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills; high proficiency in English.

Desirable qualifications

• LEED or equivalent green building certification supported by practical project delivery experience is desirable.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, is desirable.
