Interior Design Director

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Lead hospitality and residential projects from concept to completion, translating briefs into interior architecture, spatial planning, details, materials, and atmosphere.
• Lead client presentations and design workshops; review and refine concepts, drawings, technical documents, and material selections.
• Communicate design ideas through freehand sketches, hand-drawn perspectives, and visual studies.
• Coordinate FF&E, 3D visualisation, architectural, engineering, and specialist consultant inputs.
• Oversee tender packages, construction documentation, regulatory compliance, and brand standards.
• Attend client meetings and site visits, resolve design queries, and preserve design intent during construction.
• Balance creative ambition with commercial considerations, budgets, programmes, and client expectations; contribute to pitches and business development.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related discipline.
• At least 12 years of interior design experience, including substantial senior responsibility for luxury hospitality and/or high-end residential projects.
• Strong portfolio covering concept development, spatial planning, interior architecture, detailing, and completed projects.
• Strong freehand drawing and hand-sketching skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite; BIM and Revit knowledge is advantageous.
• Understanding of building codes, technical and contract documentation, and coordination with MEP, structural, lighting, and other specialist consultants.
• Ability to lead client presentations and workshops, engage senior stakeholders, manage multiple projects, and collaborate internationally.
• Commercial awareness, strong organisation and communication, and a collaborative, detail-oriented, proactive approach.
