AECOM seeks a Lead Design Engineer / Design Manager for its Water team, working across its North and Midlands offices with a flexible hybrid model.
Projects span potable water and sewage networks, treatment works and flood mitigation, from feasibility through construction, operation, maintenance and asset management.
The team delivers work for water companies, contractors, national and government clients, and international programmes.
What you will do
- Lead technical delivery of water, wastewater and flood infrastructure projects and manage multidisciplinary teams through the design lifecycle.
- Oversee work packages from concept to handover, coordinating AECOM teams, clients and suppliers.
- Build client and partner collaboration and stakeholder support for technical solutions.
- Carry out line management and mentor junior team members, supporting their development and project contributions.
Qualifications and experience
- Experience managing technical delivery of water and wastewater engineering projects.
- Multidisciplinary knowledge relevant to water and wastewater engineering.
Location and working model
- Based in the North and Midlands offices, including Manchester, Leeds, Chesterfield and Birmingham.
- AECOM describes the working model as flexible hybrid.
Example projects and services
Examples include sewage treatment upgrades, sustainable drainage and flood resilience schemes, flood alleviation, water and wastewater infrastructure, and international flood mitigation.
AECOM also advises clients including Network Rail, DEFRA and National Highways on design guidance and legislative support.
