About the role

Lead software implementation and engineering delivery across squads, platform capabilities, or engineering domains.

Translate specifications, solution designs, and architectural direction into scalable, secure, production-ready software.

Hybrid role based in Newbury or Paddington.

Responsibilities

  • Lead build execution, implementation planning, and delivery of testable increments.
  • Guide engineers and AI coding agents through implementation, validation, and releases.
  • Deliver and oversee complex, high-risk, or business-critical software components.
  • Review code and AI-generated outputs for correctness, maintainability, security, and specification alignment.
  • Drive automated, contract, and regression testing, observability, and production verification.
  • Support CI/CD, deployment readiness, handover, runbooks, and service ownership.
  • Escalate architectural ambiguity and cross-domain risks; improve controls and quality practices.
  • Coach engineers and contribute to AI-native SDLC, developer experience, automation, and productivity.

Experience and qualifications

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on production-grade delivery.
  • Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise, with experience in React or Angular.
  • Experience with APIs, microservices, integrations, platform services, and digital applications.
  • Understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, containerised environments, and integration patterns.
  • Experience with event-driven solutions using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and production support.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools and steering AI coding agents.
