Role purpose
Oversee physical handling of cargo, courier, and mail and process associated documentation manually or in automated systems for safe and efficient import and export.
Cargo operations
- Oversee acceptance and delivery of cargo, courier, and mail while maintaining customer service standards.
- Oversee porters and equipment operators during cargo build-up and breakdown, and inspect cargo at each stage for compliance with standards.
- Perform customer-requested inventories and record deviations.
- Record accepted and delivered cargo details in manual or automated systems for tracking.
- Inspect and validate cargo documentation for safe and efficient acceptance and delivery.
- Assist officials to support safe and efficient movement of cargo, courier, and mail.
- Ensure dangerous goods comply with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and sensitive or pharmaceutical shipments comply with EU GDP requirements.
Required qualifications
- At least 10 years of schooling or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience in a logistics or cargo role.
Advantageous qualifications
- Ability to use computerised data recording systems is an advantage.
- Knowledge of airfreight computer applications is an advantage.
- Successful completion of cargo dangerous goods training is an advantage.
