Instrument Engineer

Role and location

Responsibilities

• Learn plant automation systems including ABB Procontrol and Advant, Yokogawa Centum, Emerson Ovation, ALSPA EDCS, Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley PLC, and Mitsubishi PLC.
• Coordinate routine, shutdown, breakdown, and planned maintenance activities with team members.
• Maintain instrumentation and controls across DCS, PLC, actuators, positioners, transmitters, switches, sensors, analysers, servers, and HMIs.
• Set up, configure, and maintain plant instrumentation and control systems.
• Follow safety procedures and ensure tools and work areas meet safety requirements.
• Assess equipment and unit availability and reliability after maintenance with the relevant teams.
• Support root cause analysis and troubleshooting; analyse plant performance and recommend evidence-based improvements.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and support around-the-clock operations.

Qualifications and experience

• A diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is marked mandatory.
• Eight years of relevant experience in similar roles at large energy or power-sector companies is marked mandatory.
• English proficiency is mandatory; Arabic is a plus.
• Practical turbine-control-platform experience is requested, with examples including GE Mark V/VI/VIe, Siemens T3000, ABB Procontrol, Emerson Ovation, and Yokogawa Centum.
• Turbine control and instrumentation involvement may include maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, loop checks, commissioning, system modifications, and control logic implementation.
• Experience related to gas turbines, steam turbines, combined-cycle power plants, or other power-generation technologies is described.
• The posting also requests sector understanding, hands-on experience, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.
