IBM Cognos Analytics Developer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Gather customer requirements and translate them into reporting and analytics solutions.
• Develop complex operational, analytical, and executive reports, interactive dashboards, KPI scorecards, and self-service analytics.
• Build drill-down, drill-through, parameterized, scheduled, and bursting reports.
• Develop data models, Framework Manager models, data modules, OLAP cubes, calculations, metrics, prompts, filters, and expressions.
• Integrate Cognos with Maximo, enterprise databases, third-party applications, and 3D Dashboard capabilities.
• Optimize performance; troubleshoot issues; ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance.
• Create reusable templates and dashboard components; collaborate with business and technical teams.
• Prepare technical documentation, user guides, and knowledge-transfer materials; provide production support, enhancements, and tuning.

Required experience and qualifications

• At least 5 years of hands-on IBM Cognos Analytics experience.
• Proven enterprise report and dashboard development experience; strong Framework Manager and metadata-modeling experience.
• Experience designing and maintaining OLAP/data cubes and integrating Cognos with enterprise applications, including IBM Maximo Application Suite.
• Strong SQL development, query optimization, and report/dashboard performance-tuning skills.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable reporting solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field; equivalent professional experience is considered.

Technical skills

• IBM Cognos Analytics, Report Studio/Reporting, Dashboard, Framework Manager, Data Modules, and Administration.
• Complex reports, executive and KPI dashboards, drill-through and scheduled reports, bursting, visualization, and analytical reporting.
• Advanced SQL, data modeling, OLAP/data cubes, star and snowflake schemas, ETL concepts, and performance tuning.
• Database experience may include IBM Db2, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other enterprise relational databases.
• REST APIs, JDBC/ODBC, IBM Maximo Application Suite, TNCP Performance Dashboard, 3D Dashboard integration, and enterprise data integration concepts.

Preferred qualifications

• IBM Cognos Analytics certification; Maximo Application Suite experience; or dashboards for Maximo Monitor or Maximo Visual Inspection.
• Knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence best practices; OpenShift or cloud-based deployments; Python or scripting for automation.
