IBM Watson AIOps / IBM Netcool Operations Insight (NOI) Consultant / Developer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement IBM Watson AIOps and IBM Netcool Operations Insight solutions; translate customer requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Customize IBM Watson AIOps and NOI components for customer-specific operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain Netcool Impact policies for event enrichment, correlation, suppression, automation, scenario-based processing, and business logic.
• Build policy-driven workflows to reduce alert noise and improve operational efficiency.
• Integrate IBM NOI with monitoring tools and third-party systems using REST APIs, JDBC, SNMP, Webhooks, Kafka, or other supported interfaces.
• Configure IBM Netcool OMNIbus ObjectServer and probes, and develop IBM Watson AIOps Event Manager automation workflows.
• Perform event mapping, normalization, and enrichment; implement topology-aware event correlation where applicable.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and operational views; troubleshoot components and optimize system performance.
• Prepare technical documentation, solution designs, implementation guides, and operational runbooks; support implementation, testing, and production rollout.
• Work with customers, architects, and support teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Required technical skills

• Required IBM technologies include IBM Watson AIOps, IBM Netcool Operations Insight, IBM Netcool Impact, IBM Netcool OMNIbus, IBM Event Manager, and IBM Agile Service Manager.
• Required development skills include Netcool Impact policy development, JavaScript for Impact policies, SQL, REST APIs, XML or JSON, and Linux shell scripting.
• Integration technologies include SNMP, web services, REST API integration, JDBC, Kafka, Webhooks, and message queues.
• Infrastructure knowledge includes Linux administration, Red Hat OpenShift, Docker or Kubernetes, networking fundamentals, TCP/IP, and SSL certificates.
• IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps and Python are preferred.

Experience and qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience with IBM Netcool products and at least 3 years with IBM Watson AIOps or IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps.
• Required experience includes Netcool Impact policy development, event correlation and automation, and enterprise monitoring integrations with IBM NOI.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, production support experience, and customer-facing solution implementation experience are required.
• Preferred qualifications include IBM Watson AIOps or IBM Netcool certification, OpenShift or Kubernetes experience, and integrations with ServiceNow, Maximo, or enterprise ITSM platforms.
• DevOps, CI/CD, automation tools, AI-driven event analytics, and anomaly detection are preferred or desirable.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is required; equivalent industry experience is also considered.
