HVAC Maintenance Specialist

Role overview

Duties

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance; diagnose mechanical, electrical, and airflow issues.
• Repair or replace faulty motors, filters, thermostats, and electrical components.
• Monitor performance and recommend improvements, equipment upgrades, and measures to reduce downtime and operating costs.
• Clean and maintain air-conditioning units, ventilation systems, coils, and drainage lines.
• Check refrigerant levels and identify possible leaks in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Conduct functional tests to confirm safe and efficient operation; respond promptly to service requests and breakdowns.
• Maintain inspection, repair, and maintenance records; comply with safety standards and technical requirements.
• Coordinate work with facilities teams, contractors, and other maintenance personnel.

Requirements

• Knowledge of air conditioning systems, ventilation equipment, and refrigeration principles.
• Ability to safely use diagnostic tools and maintenance equipment; understanding of electrical systems and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance procedures, technical documentation, workplace safety practices, and applicable HVAC regulations.
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and time-management skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Technical certificate, diploma, or relevant training in HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous HVAC installation, maintenance, or repair experience is advantageous; relevant trade licenses or certifications are advantageous where required.
